Playstation 5 Will Be Unveiled on June 4th

For the last few months, the gaming community has been eagerly anticipating the release of the Playstation 5, and, as every day ticks by, the excitement only grows.

But now, to only add to this excitement, Sony has confirmed the date that the latest Playstation will be revealed, and it is very soon.

 Alongside the Microsoft Xbox, Sony's PlayStation is perhaps one of the most used consoles in the gaming world.

Sony dates all the way back to 1946.

 It was founded in the wake of World War II after Masaru Ibuka started an electronics shop in Tokyo, Japan.

It wasn't until 1958 when the name Sony was incorporated...

 And the business has grown to be extremely diverse.

The company has expanded into many different industries...

This includes professional electronics, entertainment, financial services, the music industry, gaming, and the TV industry.

They own the largest music entertainment business in the world.

So it's certainly safe to say that they are a company that knows what they're doing.

 Fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of the new generation PlayStation.

And now, the wait is finally over.

 In April last year, it was announced by video game designer Mark Cerny that the PlayStation 5 will be coming in 2020.

And even though the release of the actual console wasn't due to happen until later in the year...

The PlayStation 5 website went live a few months ago.

Sony's Interactive Entertainment have been teasing gamers in the UK and Germany...

"We've begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we're not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation," reads the company's statement on the website.

Gamers can sign up to receive special information about the new console...

 "Sign up to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games," the website goes on to say.

The cost of the new console has remained tightly under wraps.

Sony's chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki explained why it's still early days to determine the cost of it.

"First, we must absolutely control the labor cost, the personnel cost, it must be controlled," he said, "And the initial ramp up, how much can we prepare initially, we will work on the production and the sales and we will have to prepare the right volume as we launch this."

So it looks like fans have a little longer to wait for those answers...

 "What is not very clear or visible is because we are competing in the space so it's very difficult to discuss anything about the price at this point of time, and depending upon the price level, we may have to determine the promotion that we are going to deploy and how much costs we are prepared to pay," he went on to say.

Because June 4th is the day the brand new Playstation 5 will be revealed, in all it's glory. The event is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. PDT, and will be live-streamed - it will also give us a first glimpse at some of the games that’ll be playable on the PlayStation 5. We can't wait.
