First, let’s go through everything you’ll need.

For brewing the chai, you’ll need two black tea bags, two cups of water, two whole cloves, a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp ground allspice, and 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup.

Start with a medium saucepan.

Pour the water and spices into the saucepan and bring them to a boil, whisking the spices in the water. After the water reaches a boil, turn off the heat and let the spices steep for 5 minutes.

Now, for the black tea.

After five minutes pass, turn the heat on again and add the black tea bags and maple syrup, allowing the water to return to a slight boil (basically, your standard heat for steeping tea).

Time to let the chai steep.

After a light boil is reached, turn the heat off again. Let the tea bags steep in the water and spices for 5 minutes.

Now, you’ll need a fine mesh strainer.

After 5 minutes, strain the tea through your strainer, reserving 1/2 cup of the chai for your present latte—you can store the rest in your fridge for up to two weeks!

Grab another medium saucepan.

For the latte, you’ll need 3/4 cup whole milk, 1 tablespoon of pure maple syrup, and a pinch of ground cinnamon.

Combine all ingredients in the saucepan.

Bring the milk, syrup, and cinnamon to a slight boil, stirring the mixture often. You can remove the pan from the heat once you see the sides of the milk begin to bubble.

For best results, use an immersion blender.

With this, you can next blend the milk until it’s nice and frothy, for a perfect homemade latte.

Grab a mug.

Pour that 1/2 cup of chai that you set aside earlier into the mug. Then, slowly add the warm and frothy milk to the tea.

Polish and enjoy!

Add another pinch of cinnamon to the top of the latte, if you like, and then drink up!
