First, gather all the supplies you'll need.

Depending on what type of wreath you're trying to make, you'll need a wide range of supplies to do the job! There are a ton of different kinds of artificial greenery out there, not to mention the varieties of wreath base you can use. So let's go through each type, and how you should build off of each one.

There's the grapevine wreath.

What does that mean? Essentially, it means that the wreath's base is made from entwined bundles of twigs; it's a sturdy base, and it's got a certain rustic charm to it! Attach embellishments like pine branches, berries, pinecones, and ribbon to the base using wire and glue.

Wire wreaths are the most versatile.

With a wire base, your wreath can take heavy items: evergreen boughs, eucalyptus, or larger baubles, for example. Wrap bundles of greenery together with floral wire, and then secure them to the wire base with floral wire and glue.

There's the styrofoam wreath.

A styrofoam base is lightweight, with a smooth rounded form. Cover the foam with fabric, yarn, or something similar, and then affix embellishments to the base using straight pins. Use the pin to push through the embellishment and right into the foam base, and before long you'll have a wreath!

Next, there's the straw wreath.

As you can see above, the straw wreath base is made with padded natural straw or hay, and it's great for supporting a wide variety of materials that can be pinned or glued onto the soft form beneath. We recommend a combination of leaves, dried flowers, and ribbon - plus, if a little straw is showing through, it actually adds a nice touch!

Finally, there's the craft ring wreath.

A craft ring base is basically circular cardboard. It's thin yet sturdy, and can thus support all kinds of materials. Just paint the craft base whatever color matches your wreath design, and then affix lightweight additions to the wreath base using hot glue!

What other supplies will you need?

Well, you may have noticed that glue was mentioned in pretty much every previous slide. The importance of having a hot glue gun (and hot glue) on hand when you're building your wreath cannot be overstated!

How about some pine branches?

Naturally, you'll want ample amounts of artificial greenery on hand to build your wreath too. The classic type is pine, but if that's not what you're looking for, there are plenty of viable artificial leaves out there that'll do the job, too!

Here are some artificial holly berries.

Adding artificial berries, fruits, flowers, or similar embellishments adds some welcome color and versatility to your wreath. Take a look at these fake berries - they come in red and gold colors!

Finally, tie your wreath off with a ribbon.

What wreath doesn't have a tasteful bow somewhere on it? These rolls of burlap ribbon will do a great job of finishing off your wreath with a beautiful bow. Once you've got everything affixed, you're ready to hang up your wreath and enjoy all your hard work!
