Ever heard of sea moss gel? Made from Irish sea moss, it's incredibly healthy for you and easy to make right at home! Irish sea moss is a type of red algae that grows on the shorelines of the Caribbean Islands, North America, and Europe. And it's growing in popularity, because of its many beneficial effects.
Sea moss is full of helpful minerals that our bodies need: zinc, iron, iodine, and more. It's also high in vitamin A, vitamin C, and antioxidants. Basically, there are plenty of reasons to ingest the stuff. You can put it on your face, too; a facial made of the moss can improve eczema, psoriasis, and acne outbreaks.

First, get yourself some dried sea moss.
Sea moss is an amazing superfood, and even though it’s only recently gotten popular, it’s been recognized as such for years. And even though it may seem hard to acquire, it’s actually really easy—Amazon has it in spades! Now, grab a large bowl
Put the dried sea moss in the bowl, cover it with water, and massage it. This will get the visible dirt and debris off of the sea moss.Rinse and repeat.
Drain out the existing water, put new water in the bowl, and repeat the previous step—just to make sure you’re being thorough! The next step takes a while.
But it’s easy! Just put the sea moss in a large bowl and cover it with 1-2 cups of filtered water (not tap water). Then, just let it sit for 12-24 hours, so the sea moss can soak.Time to make the gel!
When that’s done, you’re ready to turn the sea moss into sea moss gel. For this, you’ll need the soaked sea moss and 1 cup of water (though you may need to add more, depending).Grab your blender.
Add the sea moss and water to the blender, and blend until it’s a smooth mixture; this should take between 1 and 3 minutes. As mentioned above, add more water if the mixture seems to need it, but no more than 2 cups total! Now to store the gel.
Pour the sea moss gel into an airtight jar, like this one, and refrigerate it.Wait two hours.
After that, the gel will have thickened to the proper consistency, and voila! You’ve got your sea moss gel, finished at last. You could also pour it into an ice cube tray.
It’s also totally viable to freeze the sea moss for later use. That way, if you’re making a smoothie in your blender, you can just take a cube or two of sea moss and throw it in the mix!Sea moss gel is a great addition to food and drinks.
You can add it to your favorite dips, juices, smoothies, and more. Just add between 2 tablespoons and 1/4 cup to whatever it is you’re giving an extra-healthy kick to, and you’re all set.Trending
