Full PlayStation 5 Specs Finally Revealed

After the PS5 website went live a few weeks ago, the entire gaming community has been eagerly anticipating any further news in regards to the new PlayStation 5.

Now, Sony has just revealed some incredible news, including the full PS5 specs. Although, there's one feature that's really got people talking... and not necessarily for the right reasons.

 Alongside the Microsoft Xbox, the PlayStation is perhaps one of the most used consoles for gaming in the world.

 Fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of the new generation PlayStation.

 In April of last year, it was announced by video game designer Mark Cerny that the PlayStation 5 will be coming in 2020.

And even though the release of the actual console isn't due to happen until later in the year...

The PlayStation 5 website went live a few weeks ago.

Sony's Interactive Entertainment have been teasing gamers in the UK and Germany...

"We've begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we're not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation," reads the company's statement on the website.

Gamers can sign up to receive special information about the new console...

 "Sign up to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games," the website goes on to say.

The cost of the new console is currently unknown...

Sony's chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki explained why it's still early days to determine the cost of it.

"First, we must absolutely control the labor cost, the personnel cost, it must be controlled," he said, "And the initial ramp up, how much can we prepare initially, we will work on the production and the sales and we will have to prepare the right volume as we launch this."

So it looks like fans have a little longer to wait for those answers...

 "What is not very clear or visible is because we are competing in the space so it's very difficult to discuss anything about the price at this point of time, and depending upon the price level, we may have to determine the promotion that we are going to deploy and how much costs we are prepared to pay," he went on to say.

 Allegedly, the PlayStation 5 will support 8K gaming and work with all old PS4 games when it launches later this year.

But of course, we want concrete confirmation from Sony themselves.

Well, it seems this week, our prayers have been answered.

 They've been the talk of the town for quite some time, and now we've finally got all the details.

Some of the features include:

 4K UHD Blu-Ray drive, a custom AMD GPU, and the SSD.

But there's one feature that's really got everyone talking.

Although it's been met with mixed reactions.

Sony's upcoming PS5 will be backward-compatible with several PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro games.

Lead system architect Mark Cerny confirmed the speculation during the “Road to PS5" presentation on Wednesday.

According to Cerny, nearly all of the top PS4 titles, which are ranked by playtime, will be playable on PS5 when it launches.

And, players will be able to free up space on their consoles by “running your older games from standard external storage."

Although, it hasn't been without its challenges.

 Some game code “just can’t handle" the boosted frequencies of the PlayStation 5, he explained. He also added that boost is “truly massive," so games have to be tested on a “title-by-title basis."

And, of course...

Only PS4 and PS4 Pro were confirmed. The company didn't mention backward-compatibility with older generations.

Yep, people aren't happy.

Safe to say, the presentation sent Twitter into a gaming-induced frenzy.

Some made this point, however.
